The AM1 Techflex, designed by Al Merrick of Channel Island Surfboards, is a medium-size Speed Control fin with a Ride Number of 4.0. The template features a wider base and refined tip, for the perfect mix of drive and release. The Techflex construction and flat foil give this fin a stable feel, making it ideal for controlling speed in more powerful waves.
Techflex Construction:
Techflex fins are engineered to be stiff and light. These fins will give you a solid and engaged feel for those big drops, but be lightweight and responsive when engaging the rail. These fins sit above the fiberglass line and have a Ride Number range of 3-4.5. Techflex fins are great for powerful surfers or powerful conditions.
Foil:
Flat foiled fins break free sooner, and are better at controlling speed. Often surfers prefer them in fast powerful surf where they do not need to create additional speed. If you have muscle memory from riding glass-ons, flat foiled fins will feel the closest.
