Custom Surfboards Shaped to Order

Christiaan Bradley shaping a board

Sometimes stock dims need a tweak to suit your personal style of riding and the breaks you surf.

We can custom spec any board from Sharp Eye, Bradley or Grace  - shaped in Hossegor at Bell Surf and with you sometimes within 2 weeks.

You can adjust everything from the dimensions and volume to the tail, fin setup, glassing and finishing details. Our team will help you make choices that suit your ability, surfing style and the waves you ride most often.

1. Choose your model

Start with the surfboard model that best matches the type of surfing you want to do. Whether you’re looking for a performance shortboard, everyday beach-break board, fish, mid-length or longboard, we can help narrow down the options.

Every model has its own intended feel and wave range, so this is the most important place to start.

2. Select your dimensions

Custom boards can be ordered in standard dimensions or adjusted to suit you more closely. Options include:

  • Length
  • Width
  • Thickness
  • Volume

Tell us your height, weight, ability, current board and the conditions you normally surf. We’ll help you find a balance between paddle power, stability, speed and performance.

3. Choose your tail

The tail affects how the board holds, turns and releases through different parts of the wave.

Depending on the model, options may include squash, swallow, round, round-pin and other specialist tail shapes. We’ll help you choose an option that works with the board design rather than simply choosing one on looks.

4. Pick your fin setup

Choose the fin system and configuration that suits your existing fins and the way you want the board to surf:

  • FCS II or Futures
  • Single fin
  • Twin fin
  • Thruster
  • Quad
  • Five-fin convertible setup

The available configurations will depend on the board model.

5. Choose your glassing

The standard 4oz + 4oz deck and 4oz bottom construction provides a good combination of weight, flex and everyday durability.

Lighter performance glassing may be available if responsiveness is the priority, while stronger layups can be specified for greater durability and regular use. We can talk you through the trade-offs before your order is confirmed.

6. Add the personal details

Make your board yours with available colour, artwork and finishing options.

You can also add a name, short message or personal inscription along the stringer, sealed beneath the glass as part of the finished board.

7. Tell us about your surfing

The more useful information you provide, the better the finished board can be matched to you.

Let us know:

  • Your height and weight
  • Your surfing ability
  • The board you currently ride
  • What you like or dislike about it
  • Where you normally surf
  • The conditions the new board is intended for
  • Whether you want more paddle power, speed, hold, stability or manoeuvrability

We’ll use our decades of surfing experience to create options for you, so the final  specification is right for you.

8. Confirm your custom build

Once the model, dimensions and custom options have been agreed, we’ll confirm the final specification, price and estimated build time before placing the order.

Your board will then be shaped and finished in Bell Surf, Hossegor. We’ll keep you updated and let you know when it is ready for delivery or collection.
